i am abandoning this livejournal in favor of this one.

i decided that no one cares about my emo posts about my life, so it'll probably be just poetry and stuff. there's nothing there yet, because i just spent an hour fucking with the appearance and i'm too lazy to update, but eventually there will be something to read, so you should add it.

also, i will discontinue the friendsonlyness.

icarus

that night, behind the light fixture building,
you climbed the narrow rusted ladder to the roof
and spread yourself open like the white hot spot of venus
dawning in the sky (drunken constellation)
while all the punks ignored the music with bopping heads;
we tried to coax you to come down slowly
(without violent ending) but you wouldn't have it
inching closer to the edge (i couldn't look
so someone gave me the shivering play by play over my shoulder)
until you clambered down, suddenly afraid.
only you and i stayed until the party was over
the band left in their brown minivan and we sat
in the dented bed of your brokedown white truck
talking about nothing or staring up at the black between stars
sharing a beer and pack of cigarettes, twisted together on the
lifeless metal machinery until the sunrise
(violent and swollen) wove white webs
playing connect the dots with all the morning stars.
you said it was time and a rabbit darted across the industrial lot,
cold, seeking shelter in the frail august morning
(that threatened september in a vague and listless way)
we had nowhere to go but home,
nothing to see but the ressurected day
(i was thinking sleep)
but now i wish i could have looked at you and said
i was so afraid you were going to jump, back there,
spread your wings and rise into the dirty city night.
